Software Developer – Quality & Test Automation

Meet the Team As a global technology leader, Cisco has been transforming how people connect, communicate, and collaborate for decades. Our innovation in networking, security, and cloud-based solutions enables organizations to drive digital transformation and achieve their business goals. The Collaboration Employee Experience organization creates workspace solutions that connect people, places, and experiences. Located in Galway, Ireland, you will be part of our engineering team, working closely with colleagues both locally and as part of a wider international team spanning Oslo and the United States. You will work closely with Cisco’s Devices organization — a team of 300+ passionate engineers across hardware, software, mechanics, audio, media processing, and artificial intelligence — from concept to product. Together we strive to create best-in-class video conferencing experiences by bringing diverse engineering disciplines under one mission. Your Impact You are a software developer with a quality and automation mindset. You enjoy taking ownership of test strategy, building automation that others can rely on, and helping the team move from ad-hoc verification to a systematic, scalable quality practice. You thrive as part of a team and contribute to our culture of shared learning, yet you are equally comfortable taking ownership and figuring things out independently when needed. You will: Build and maintain automated tests and test infrastructure in Python (and related languages as needed), covering unit, integration, and device-level scenarios Help design and take our quality and testing approach to the next level — from test strategy and coverage through CI integration, reporting, and debug workflows Work across the software stack, from Linux-level behaviour on our devices through to application and meeting-platform integration, to identify gaps and close them with automation Set up metrics, dashboards, and alarms that make product quality and test health visible and actionable Improve developer workflows by building tooling — including AI-assisted test generation, triage, and operational support where it adds real value Build software with quality and attention to detail, and help the team focus on continuous improvement — whether related to code quality or internal processes Minimum Qualifications Degree in computer science or equivalent 6 years+ of professional software or test automation engineering experience Experience in Python, C++, including writing clean code, testing, and debugging Experience writing unit and integration tests, and building or extending automated test suites Experience working with Linux and Networking Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with core DevOps tools such as Git, Linux/Unix environments, CI/CD pipelines, and basic containerization (Docker) Experience testing or automating against embedded, Android, or device platforms Familiarity with building or integrating APIs Interest or experience in using AI tools (for example AI agents, MCP, or LLMs) to automate development, test, and operational workflows Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to influence quality practices across a team Why Cisco?
