Senior Full Stack Engineer

Senior Full Stack Engineer About LaunchDarkly Engineering LaunchDarkly helps engineering organizations ship software and AI with speed , safety, and control. Our platform gives teams the confidence to release gradually, target experiences to the right audiences, learn through experimentation, understand what is happening in production, and respond quickly when risk appears. Our engineers build the systems, services, SDKs, developer tools, cloud infrastructure, and product experiences that make this possible. The work spans high-scale distributed systems, reliable data and event pipelines, intuitive enterprise workflows, and AI-powered capabilities that help teams manage the next generation of software delivery. LaunchDarkly’s SDKs are used in systems that perform trillions of feature flag evaluations each day, giving our engineering work a direct connection to the reliability and customer experience of software around the world. As the company grows, we are expanding beyond traditional feature management into experimentation, observability, and AgentControl—helping customers control more of the software and AI lifecycle. That creates an unusually broad set of technical challenges, visible customer impact, and room for engineers to shape what comes next. We believe in the power of teams. We work with humility, openness, curiosity, and care; we value clear communication, thoughtful technical judgment, inclusive collaboration, and a strong sense of ownership. We encourage people to apply even when they do not meet every qualification listed below. We are interested in the experience, perspective, and potential you would bring to the role. About the role The specific technical emphasis will vary by opportunity. Some teams may prioritize backend depth, data-intensive applications, enterprise workflows, observability, experimentation, or AI-powered product experiences. Senior scope at LaunchDarkly is defined by sustained impact, technical judgment, and influence beyond an individual feature—not by years of experience alone. As a Senior Full Stack Engineer at LaunchDarkly, you will lead the design and delivery of customer-facing product experiences and the backend systems that support them. You will work across the application boundary from intuitive, accessible interfaces to reliable services, APIs, and data flows—and help shape how customers understand, configure, and control software delivery. This is an opportunity to own complex, high-impact work where engineering judgment is visible. You will partner closely with Product, Design, Data, Staff Engineers, Engineering Managers, and adjacent teams to make complex capabilities feel clear and useful, while ensuring that the underlying systems are scalable, secure, observable, and dependable. Your technical decisions will influence both the product experience and the systems that enable it. What you’ll do Lead the design and delivery of large or ambiguous end-to-end initiatives across frontend and backend systems. Develop product experiences using technologies such as TypeScript and React , along with services and APIs using technologies such as Go, Python, or comparable tools. Translate customer problems and product goals into thoughtful technical designs, clear tradeoffs, and incremental delivery plans. Own work from discovery and design through implementation, launch, measurement, operational support, and iteration. Partner with Product, Design, Data, and engineering leaders to balance usability, accessibility, performance, reliability, security, cost, and time to value. Establish patterns and practices that improve consistency, maintainability, developer experience, and quality across the product. Improve observability and operational health across the frontend and backend systems you touch, and participate in incident response when needed. Influence architecture and technical direction through design documents, code reviews, technical discussions, and clear written and verbal communication. Mentor engineers and help teammates grow their technical judgment, product instincts, and ability to deliver end-to-end work. Represent customer needs and production realities in cross-functional decisions, and connect technical work to measurable outcomes. Qualifications 7+ years of experience building and operating production web applications, with a track record of delivering meaningful customer or business impact. Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects across frontend and backend layers, including ambiguous requirements or cross-team dependencies. Strong experience with a modern frontend framework such as React and a typed language such as TypeScript, or equivalent experience. Strong backend experience designing or operating APIs, services, data stores, or asynchronous systems in a production environment. Experience with a backend language such as Go, Python, Rust, or an equivalent language. (Most of our teams use Go) Sound judgment across architecture, user experience, accessibility, performance, reliability, security, and maintainability tradeoffs. Strong product instincts and the ability to connect technical decisions to customer outcomes and business goals. Ability to create alignment with engineers and cross-functional partners through clear communication and inclusive decision-making. Experience mentoring engineers, improving team practices, and raising the quality of technical execution. A strong sense of ownership for the full lifecycle of the systems and experiences you help build. Comfort learning unfamiliar systems and navigating changing priorities with curiosity and a collaborative mindset.
