Staff Software Engineer, Data Protection

As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward. With your technical expertise you will manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. You will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions. We build and maintains data protection capabilities that integrate across Google’s storage, data processing, and AI stacks. Our infrastructure provides fine-grained policy enforcement, access filtering, and guardrails for data handling systems and emerging AI workloads. By building friction-free, standardized protections directly into foundational platforms, we help engineering teams across Alphabet launch and iterate on products quickly while maintaining high security and privacy standards. Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. 8 years of experience with distributed compute environments, software development, big data analytics, cloud computing including virtualization, hosted services, multi tenant cloud infrastructures, storage systems or content delivery networks. Experience with software development in C/C++, C#, Java, Python or Go. Preferred qualifications: Experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, and experience with compute technologies, storage, and hardware architecture. Experience with Google- scale infrastructure. Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. 8 years of experience with distributed compute environments, software development, big data analytics, cloud computing including virtualization, hosted services, multi tenant cloud infrastructures, storage systems or content delivery networks. Experience with software development in C/C++, C#, Java, Python or Go.
